I bought this for my 8-yr-old son who is taking Mandarin in school, but found myself playing the game too. Its very fun, and a really great way to easily learn a bit of Mandarin too. It truly works.

A very good, challenging, motivating, and fun flash card game. It doesnt feel like youre learning even though you are. The music is not annoying. The animations are enjoyable. One of the best flash card apps. Only drawback is you cant customize, but this is being picky. Highly recommend.

Best Mandarin app Ive found. After taking elementary Mandarin in college I was still having trouble, especially with pinyin. This app helps you to memorize the pinyin along with the characters and objects. It really is amazing when an old befuddled English-speaker can memorize anything these days, much less so quickly!

Great tool to learn characters!

The concept is brilliant. This is the app Ive been looking for: linking the recorded human speaker to the Simplified character to the Pinyin, in a game format. It does more repetitions in cycling through the combinations possible. In playing, the first five levels are agonizingly slow. Over and over and over again. If the student can finish the level, s/he will have a solid grip on recognizing *two characters* hopefully before losing interest and abandoning the app. It is much more engaging when three characters are in play. Might be helped by practicing two characters, then three characters earlier in the sequence, or mixing two pairs in the third level. In a classroom setting (supervised or required) I could see this being very effective. It is the triple play of character/Romanization/speech. Learning the sound and character together. And its great that the line cook responds with feeling to incorrect answers!
